La Vernia BPA Students Compete at State Leadership Conference:
La Vernia High School BPA students recently competed at the Texas BPA State Leadership Conference held in Dallas, March 5–8.

This year’s conference brought together over 4,500 students from across Texas, representing 17 regions statewide. In many competitive events, students faced 85–100 competitors or teams per category, making this an extremely competitive event.

La Vernia students represented their school with professionalism, dedication, and strong preparation across a variety of business, leadership, and technology-focused events. Two students earned the opportunity to advance to the BPA National Leadership Conference in Nashville this May:
* Jena Talbert – Qualified in Basic Office Systems & Procedures, a Microsoft Office competitive event focused on advanced business document and application skills
* Micah Lyssy – Elected Regional President at the Regional Leadership Conference and will represent his region at the National Leadership Conference as part of his officer responsibilities

All students who competed demonstrated commitment, professionalism, and growth throughout the experience.

The BPA program continues to provide students with opportunities to develop real-world business, leadership, and workplace readiness skills while representing La Vernia High School at the regional, state, and national levels. The La Vernia BPA chapter is led by advisor Cynthia Sutton, with continued collaboration and support from Mr. Michael Reading, Junior High Business Teacher, as the program continues to grow across campuses.

Students in Mr. Holman’s Principles of Law, Public Safety, First Responders, and Corrections and Security classes recently had the incredible opportunity to tour the Wilson County Fire Station and the EMS Station.

During these visits, students:
• Participated in hands‑on fire training activities
• Spoke with Wilson County Firefighters and EMTs
• Learned about the job requirements, daily responsibilities, and essential skills for these roles
• Practiced real‑world techniques used in fire and emergency medical services

This experience provided our LVHS students with a real‑life look into what it is like to serve the community as a Firefighter or an EMT.

A huge thank you to Wilson County District 1 and Wilson County ESD #3 for welcoming our students and for providing such an engaging, educational day!
