CSI La Vernia

Mrs. Brandi Dennis brought her students to the library today in order to practice solving crimes "in the field." Students visited two "crime scenes" that were staged in the library. In Forensic Science, a CTE class designed to prepare students for future course and career work, the class is currently studying The 7 Steps of Processing a Crime Scene. Today, they took measurements, practiced finding and documenting the evidence, and photographed evidence. They learned how to save the evidence and keep the chain of custody. It was wonderful to see students involved in hands-on processes and to see them excited to participate in an assignment. Students will collect evidence for two class periods, then take it back to the lab and study fingerprints, hair, etc., under the microscopes. We hope they are having fun and learning a lot!
